Nellie Beatrice Tarrer

Nellie Beatrice Tarrer was born on February 22, 1940 to the late William “Jack” Tarrer and Mary A. Pollard. She was preceded in death by her brother Edmund “Frog” Pollard. She was educated in Hanover County Public Schools.
She joined Calvary Episcopal Church at an early age where she attended and served faithfully. Nellie retired from Randolph Macon College after 29 years of service.
She loved to listen to her music “105.7 DJ Drake”. She also loved to shop, cook her greens and hit the casino.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving daughter Vinetta T Goodall (Calvin), her granddaughters Venetia (Phillip) and Cadrea Goodall. Step grandson Jerell Jones. Her sister Gladys Dabney (Leslie), her brothers Lewis Pollard Sr. (Jane), Samuel Pollard (Sherrilynn), Harvey Pollard (Beverly), Loving and devoted friends Richard Tucker, Matthew Follie, Keisha Bell, Joan Anderson, and Ann Marie Tunstall. Godson Jeffrey Pollard Jr, devoted cousin Mable Cousins, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Homegoing services Monday March 19 11 a.m. at the Providence Baptist Church Ashland Va. Interment Roselawn Memory Garden.

Bernice Fields Anderson

Bernice F. Anderson, was born to the late Thomas and Wilberta Fields on Aug 18, 1928. She was one of 13 children. She leaves to cherish her memory one brother Robert Fields(Gloria). Five sisters: Alice Dodson(Charles), Helen Nelson, Irene Clarke, Earline and Geraldine Fields. One aunt, Fannie Woolfolk, one brother in-law Charles Dodson. One daughter in-law Delois Anderson, Two sister in-law, Gloria and Clarissa Fields, best friend Jane Anderson, grandchildren, great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends including her devoted niece Lola Williams.
She was preceded in death by two sisters Jesse Snead and Barbara Anderson. Four brothers: Thomas Jr., David Sr., Timothy Sr., and Jamie Fields. She married the late LLoyd Anderson Sr. and had one son LLoyd Jr.”Juney”. Bernice loved her family dearly. If you would sit and talk with her she would always bring up something about the family and what was going on. She had fond memories of her upbringing talking about her momma and papa. Bernice will be missed dearly.

Curtis Peatross

Curtis Eric Peatross, affectionately known as “Gunsmoke”, entered his life May 5, 1959 and went home to be with our father March 6, 2018. He accepted Christ and became an active member of Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He graduated from Bowling Green High School and furthered his education with various vocational programs.
A reliable hardworking man, he worked at Richfood for 27 years, where he formed many lifetime friendships that became family. On October 16, 1981, he married his high school sweetheart.
From this union they were blessed with two children, Curtis and Morishita, that they loved dearly.
He was a man of strength and loved his family and friends. He had a passion for grudge racing. He loved fishing and the Redskins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene, parents, Lewis and Shirley Peatross.
He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Curtis Peatross (Temeka); one daughter, Morishita Peatross; nine grandchildren: Jahmal, Jaida, Jaquan, Chloe, Charlynd, Zhana, Christian, Journee, and Raja. Parents in laws, Charlie and Viola Ross; brother, Daryl Peatross (Alicia); two sisters in laws, Ruth Quash (Raymond) and Diana Green (Roy); aunts Anna Moore, Virginia Mills, and Carla Peatross; uncles Larry Peatross (Cindy), Chris Peatross, Walter Moore (Barbara), and Edward Dodson. Along with other relatives and friends. Service Sunday 3/11/2018 2pm 2ND Mt. Zion Bapt.

Services for Slandon Goodall will be Sunday March 4th, 1pm at Second Mt.Zion Baptist Church, Dawn Va.
Slandon eased away from us in the midst of the night for God knows whats always right. Slandon became tired and had nothing but love to share; God calmed the storm to take him there.
Slandon Eugene Goodall was born on April 21, 1967 to Marian Goodall and the late Frank Goodall.
Slandon gave his life to Christ at an early age. He attended Caroline County Public Schools.
All those who knew him knew he was outgoing, full of fun and jokes. He was loving, kind and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Slandon leaves to cherish his memory his mother Marian Goodall. One son Isiah Green, two sisters; Irish Edwards (Christopher) and Melita Goodall. One brother Alonzo Harris(Vierlena)Two nieces; Slandra and Frankia Goodall. Five nephews; Zorell Harris, Montray, Javon, Dion, and Ohage Goodall. One great nephew Treshawn Goodall, one great niece Javesia Goodall, one brother in-law, one sister in-law, four aunts; Clara, Gloria, Betty, and Frances. Four uncles; Kenny, Moses, James and Dennis. Three great aunts; Jane Anderson, Margaret Lewis, and Viola Ross. Two great uncles; Edmund Baylor and Charlie Ross. Three devoted friends; Gavron Few and Evelyn Green and Shelia Tillman Two devoted cousins Charles and Rodney Goodall along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Program 11 picEdith P. Jackson, 80 of Glen Allen, went home to be with the Lord November 30, 2017. She was born September 29, 1937 to the late Robert Lee White Sr. and Etta Geneva White. She was preceded in death by her brother, Curtis Turner Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory 6 devoted children, Veronica Henderson, Vanessa Williams (Rex), Anthony Pollard (Sheretta), Gregory Pollard (Dorothy), Felecia Redd (Lloyd) and Antwan Jackson; three Brothers, Claude White Sr., Robert White Jr., and Tyrone Workmen; two sisters, Gloria Parker and Cynthia Rasheed; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and many special friends. Homegoing service will be held on Wednesday, December 6,2017, 12 Noon, at Abner Baptist Church, Glen Allen, Va. Reverend Jaimal Hayes, Officiating. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery.

Marjorie Victoria Johnson Jackson

PicsMarjorie Victoria Johnson Jackson was born September 20, 1935 in Washington D.C. She transitioned this life on Friday, October 20, 2017.

Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She was joined in matrimony to Walter Jackson for 51 years. She leaves behind two sons, Allen Johnson and Kevin Jackson. She cherished her granddaughter, Shani Moore.
Marjorie was a faithful member of Jericho Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, Virginia. She also found solace worshiping at Brown Grove Baptist Church in Ashland, Virginia, where she served as the treasurer of the Senior Citizen Ministry.

Marjorie graduated from Union High School in Caroline County, Virginia before moving to Washington, D.C. After marrying Walter, she relocated to Ashland, Virginia and retired from the former C&P Telephone Company in Richmond, Virginia.

Marjorie was known for her kind demeanor, sharing her love and generosity among all she met. She was a generous soul who would provide guidance and insight. And against the strongest desires of her immediate family, she continued to be a passionate fan of the Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals.

Homegoing service will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Jericho Baptist Church, at 11am. Interment, Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Dorothy Tobias Parker

Dorothy Tobias Parker entered this world on November 5, 1935 in Pomaria, South Carolina, and she went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Daisy Tobias, and two sons, Daniel Scott Parker and Patrick Lee Parker.

Educated in the Newport News Public School System, she graduated from her beloved Huntington High School in 1953. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Ivy Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. She is survived by her daughter, Jody Lynn Allen (Anthony), James Odie Parker III (Brenda), and Walter Carl Parker Sr. (Tishawna), her sister Helen Walker (Jim), her beloved uncle, Johnie Wright (Katherine), eight grandchildren, and one great grandson.

Funeral services will take place Monday, February 20th at Ivy Baptist Church in Newport News, VA. Her body can be viewed at the O.H. Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, February 19th from 11:00am – 4:00pm.

Paul Junius Hughes

Paul J. Hughes, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2017. He was born, May 22, 1931, in Walnut Cove, NC, to the late Lonnie and Leara Hughes.

He leaves to cherish his memories, caregivers, nephew Jerome Hughes (Donna) and niece, Samantha Garnett, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brother and five sisters.

Paul was a quiet man and a hard worker. He was a retiree from Flippo Lumber Corporation. He had a big smile for any children in his presence. He was a great dancer and always enjoyed a good meal and most of all, he had an eye for pretty women. He loved attending church services and serving with the ushers ministry.

Paul, having a variety of nicknames, will truly be missed by all.

Services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 12noon, at the Jerusalem Baptist Church, Doswell, VA. Rev. Dr. E. Richard Swan, Pastor and Dr. W. G. Berryman, Officiating.

Carolyn Delores (Brown) Carter

Carolyn Delores (Brown) Carter went to be with the Lord, November 24, 2016. She was born, January 26, 1947, to the late, Ruby Bennet and Thomas King. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rita Brown and her husband, Richard Hess Carter.

Carolyn, attended Hanover County Public Schools. She was united in Holy matrimony to the late Richard Hess Carter and from this union, they were blessed with three children: Richard Carter, Ulysses Carter, and Connie Carter and two loving nephews, Reginald and William Brown. Carolyn, was a faithful and dedicated member of Fountain of Deliverance Outreach Ministries, until her health began to fail her. Carolyn, not only enjoyed serving the Lord, but she put all her trust in Him. Through all her struggles, she always a source of encouragement. No matter what she was going through; she always gave God the praise. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Richard Carter (Janice), Ulysses Carter, Connie Carter, a devoted nephew, Reginald Brown, five loving grandchildren, several great grand children and a loving and devoted friend, Mr. Charles Howell.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 7:00pm, at Fountain of Deliverance Outreach Ministries. 3800 E. Broad Rock Rd; Richmond, VA 23224. Bishop, Lawerence Taylor, officiating.
